BAUDOUIN, GERVAIS, chirurgien, né vers 1645, à Saint-Brice (diocèse de Chartres), de Gervais Baudouin et de Jeanne Desrues, décédé à Québec en 1700.

Il passa au Canada vers 1677. Le 6 novembre 1683, il épousait à Québec Anne Auber, fille du notaire Claude Auber. Baudouin fut médecin des Ursulines et du séminaire de Québec, dont il reçut 100# en 1690 et 140# en 1691. On ne lui connaît pas d’apprentis.

Il était lieutenant du premier chirurgien Félix de Tassy, qui pratiquait en France, et c’est à ce titre qu’en septembre 1694 il dénonçait comme incapable le chirurgien René Gaschet*. En 1695, il était chirurgien-major de Québec. Le 28 septembre 1697, il achetait deux emplacements à Montréal, et c’est pour cela qu’on a supposé, mais à tort, qu’il avait exercé son art dans cette ville.

Le 4 décembre 1700, il succomba à une épidémie et fut inhumé dans l’église Notre-Dame de Québec le lendemain. Il laissait huit enfants vivants, dont Gervais*, qui fut chirurgien, et Michel*, qui fut missionnaire jésuite en Louisiane. Deux de ses filles entrèrent chez les Ursulines et une autre fut religieuse à l’Hôpital Général. Sa femme mourut en juin 1728.
