FERRAR (Farrar), CONSTANCE, capitaine qui servit dans les Pays-Bas, le Palatinat, à l’île de Ré et à La Rochelle, et fut commandant du fort de la colonie de Sir James Stewart, Lord Ochiltree, au port de la Baleine, près du Havre-aux-Anglais (plus tard Louisbourg) ; circa 1629.

Accompagné de sa femme et de ses enfants, Ferrar traversa l’Atlantique avec Lord Ochiltree et les autres colons. Donnant suite à une proposition du capitaine Ogilvie, le groupe bâtit un fort qu’on nomma « Rosemar ». Toutefois, cet établissement naissant prit fin quelques semaines plus tard lorsque le capitaine Charles Daniel, de Dieppe, membre de la Compagnie des Cent-Associés, captura et rasa le fort et emmena les colons à Cibou (St. Ann’s, Cap-Breton), où ils demeurèrent environ cinq semaines avant d’être ramenés en Europe. Aidés d’une vingtaine de prisonniers, les hommes de Daniel construisirent le fort Sainte-Anne à Cibou. On mit à terre, à Lizard (Angleterre), quelques-uns des colons, dont Ferrar, mais Ochiltree et 17 autres furent emmenés en France comme prisonniers. Rentré en Angleterre, Ferrar supplia le roi de prendre des mesures pour faire libérer Lord Ochiltree et ses associes.
