DU BOS, NICOLAS, prêtre, né vers 1653 à Abbeville (Picardie) de Nicolas Dubos et d’Antoinette Caron, mort à Québec en 1699.

Venant de France à la fin de ses études théologiques, il arriva à Québec en 1684. Mgr de Laval*, devant partir pour l’Europe à la recherche d’un successeur et ne prévoyant pas de revenir de sitôt, lui conféra rapidement les ordres en novembre 1684. M. Du Bos fut chargé de desservir Charlesbourg, au nord de Québec ; il assura ce ministère, sans résider dans la paroisse, pendant six années (1684–1690). Plus tard, forcé par Mgr de Saint-Vallier [La Croix*], l’abbé Du Bos essaya de demeurer à Charlesbourg, mais sa santé déjà faible en fut définitivement compromise. À cet endroit, selon un texte contemporain, « il y a une petite chapelle de bois qui tombe en ruine étant toute pourrie, sans presbytère [...] il y a 250# de supplément. » En plus de la desserte de Charlesbourg, on avait confié à Du Bos, le 9 novembre 1684, les postes de chapelain de l’autel Sainte-Anne et de vicaire du chapitre de Québec.

De 1686 à 1692, il fut vicaire à Québec. Le 14 août 1698, il fut fait pénitencier. En 1698, l’évêque le nomma confesseur et chapelain des Ursulines. Précédemment, le 1er mai 1697, il avait été nommé officier du séminaire de Québec et il entra en fonctions le 1er janvier 1698.

Il mourut le 2 mai 1699.
