ANDERSON, THOMAS, pasteur au service de la Hudson’s Bay Company, décédé en 1696.
Engagé par la compagnie en 1693, Anderson fut envoyé au fort York (Bourbon), où il fut fait prisonnier, un an plus tard, lors de la capture du fort par les Français sous les ordres de Pierre Le Moyne* d’Iberville. Comme Anderson connaissait le latin, on eut recours à ses services pour rédiger les termes de la capitulation ; le jésuite Pierre-Gabriel Marest* était l’interprète des Français. Anderson, semble-t-il, mourut pendant sa captivité, près de Dinant (France), en 1696. On n’a pas réussi à établir si ce Thomas Anderson est celui qui a obtenu son baccalauréat ès arts à Cambridge en 1684 et sa maîtrise ès arts en 1688.
